Tank Monitor Service

I Purchased a tank monitor installation kit from Ferriello Sales (www.ferriellosales.com). During the course of  installing the unit, I developed several questions and decided to give their technical assistance a try. 
Dennis Ferriello was very responsive and helpful during each of the three instances I called.  It is very refreshing in this day and age to dial a phone number and instantly get the very person you were intending
to speak with.  No case or account numbers, no automated menus, just a human on the other end, offering help.  The installation went off without a hitch.

I thought some of you might be interested in the following: I gave up on my Snake River tank monitoring system and switched to a replacement system manufactured by New Providence Marine Systems.

Seems the guys making and selling this system are quite familiar with Snake River products and their system is effectively a wire-for-wire replacement. You can even use the same foils that are on the tanks.

Had a little trouble installing the system Saturday (operator error), and almost before I could complete my question, they had me on a conference call with the engineer. Not once, but twice. Rmemeber this was Saturday. Now that is service!

System is now operational and has some very nice operating variances that I do not believe were in my Snake River system. To buy the system I went on the Internet to Ferriello Sales. I recommend anyone looking to replace the Snake River system, take a look at this one.

I haven't met a lot of bad folks in the sailing community, but recently I've run into a few real class acts. I give you one Dennis Ferriello - a better guy you won't meet.

I just sent him an email with more detail into my question posted above, and before I could finish my drink (and I finish them fast) he calls with answers, guidance, suggestions, and better prices than the competition.

Heck, it's Saturday night! The local marine mega-mart probably isn't even open (and don't dream of getting a competent rep on the phone)...

Nevermind that Dennis probably did business with the guy who laid up my hull, he's just good people.

If you're in the market for tank monitoring, or probably anything else that carries electrons and is attached to your boat, he's your man. At a minimum, let him quote your job.

And in case you're the suspicious type, he doesn't know I'm writing this and isn't giving me anything for it (nor would I let him).

I just installed a Profile monitor system with both rod sensors and foil sensors from Dennis at www.ferriellosales.com
I couldn't be happier. I've been meaning to write but I was out sailing for a while. Denise provided absolutely fabulous customer service second to none. I have 2 water tanks and a waste tank that needed a new monitor on our Bavaria 40 Ocean. The profile monitor was easy to install and when I realized I couldn't tape the foil sensors on the forward water tank I bought a rod sensor which was also simple to install. It's the little things that really make a difference. I mounted the Profile 8 unit partially under my nav table. When I realized the back lighting on the panel wouldn't shut off I had that sinking feeling I made a big mistake in placement. After reading the manual (yes I finally read the manual) I found there was actually a light sensitivity setting. After adjusting the back light sensitivity setting the monitory backlight worked as it is supposed to. Who every heard of someone adding a great feature like light sensitivity for the back light? When installing the sensors they have a little test LED light to show you they are receiving power and when they are on.

I recently spent many weeks cruising and entertaining guests. Having a monitor (not just a tank gauge but an system that actually monitors the tanks and tells you when you are reaching reaching full or empty) was a huge help. Great product and a great company. good luck with your install.

The weekend before last I had a chance to install the new Profile-8 and two sensors that I just purchased from you on my 25' express cruiser.  I ended up installing it on the wall of my galley cabinet as there just wasn't enough room on the bulkhead that houses my electrical panel.  I fabricated a small wood box for behind the panel to protect the PCB from impact / short circuiting.  Installation couldn't have been smoother or easier.  I especially love the diagnostic mode:  With the panel beeping and sensor flashing it couldn't be more user friendly knowing that the sensors were wired properly and communicating.  I've calibrated both tanks for empty and will calibrate both for full position in a few months when I put my boat in the water.

I wanted to thank you for all the answers to my technical questions (and there were several) that I asked you.  That, coupled with the well written manual, made installation totally unambiguous.  I look forward to what I'm hoping will be a much more reliable sensor system than I experienced with a well known competitor.

I've been electrical design engineer for over 25 years, and I wanted to comment that I feel the design of the Profile-8 monitor is really 1st rate.
